Are you interested in alternative forms of dance? Do you have a strong foundation in ballet or jazz, but enjoy more creative, contemporary movement? Inertia dance is looking for adult dancers, both male and female, who are interested in performing in and around the Charleston area. Our company will combine styles in Modern to African Dance utilizing non-traditional pieces of music for entertainment, protest, or social messages.
We ask that you be willing to embark on adventure and step quite a bit outside the box. In other words, weird is totally what we like!
Dancers would begin on a volunteer basis. Currently we do not have the means to "pay" dancers, although it is a long term goal to do so, the initial construction of this company will require a commitment with the reward being doing what we love: dancing, collaborating and sharing our art with our community.
Rehearsal schedule will likely be 2-3 times a week dependent on what performance schedule/opportunities are available. A lot of what Inertia is attempting to do is bring a kind of dance to the Charleston area that locals have to travel elsewhere to see. We want our members to share our vision and be committed to the cause. An informational meeting will be held in upcoming weeks. Keep checking back for dates and times.
If you are interested, please feel free to email at inertiadancewv@gmail.com or comment here on our blog or Facebook page.
Is Pierce McClain still associated with this company?
